Mission Statement

Alden Biesen Summer Opera organises an opera festival every year in May-June. 
The goal of this festival to break down the barriers to opera for the general public in Limburg and beyond.
In addition to the festival's main opera, the Summer Opera also performs opera for children with the goal of arousing their curiosity for the genre.  
Summer Opera presents creative, fresh and accessible performances in which the libretto, the score and the historical context coalesce in perfect harmony.

What's more, the Summer Opera is a platform where young opera singers and musicians can gain stage experience or perform their debuts, so that they can later grow and develop into larger theatres and launch their international careers.

In addition to its educational and artistic merits, the Summer Opera also enhances the value of the cultural heritage of the Landcommanderij Alden Biesen.
