Closing Concert
Zomeropera will bring the 2026 season to a festive close with its final concert.
The programme features a sparkling selection from Der Zigeunerbaron by Johann Strauss Jr., which, together with Die Fledermaus, ranks among his best-known and most frequently performed operettas.
This captivating love story is set in the 18th century, between Hungary and Vienna.
The search for a hidden treasure in the castle of the Barinkay family forms the central thread of the story.
For the fifth consecutive year, Zomeropera welcomes the Limburg Youth & Music Orchestra, conducted by our chairman Willy Claes.
Our distinguished soloists complete the cast:
Saffi, a young Gypsy girl – Martine Reyners, soprano
Czipra, a Gypsy woman – Lien Haegeman, mezzo-soprano
Sándor Barinkay, a young immigrant – Denzil Delaere, tenor
Count Homonay, provincial governor – Koen van Agtmael, baritone
Kálmán Zsupán, a wealthy pig farmer – Piet Vansichen, bass
