Un ballo in maschera

Following the great success of La Traviata last season, the same creative team returns to Alden Biesen with a bold new interpretation of Un ballo in maschera, one of Verdi’s most gripping and passionate operas.
This thrilling tale of political intrigue, betrayal, and forbidden love reaches its dramatic peak during the final masked ball.
In stage director Noa Naamat’s fresh interpretation, we confront the dangers of living in a metropolis dominated by new technologies. Here, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and digital manipulation blur the lines between what is real and what is fake.
In a time when a single image or headline can twist the truth, this production becomes a chilling exploration of power in a hyper-connected world.
It leaves us with the unsettling question: Can we trust what we see?
As the story of Riccardo, Amelia, and Renato unfolds, we enter a world where conspiracies quietly simmer behind closed doors, secrets grow larger by the moment, and loyalty is never guaranteed.
When the hunger for power knows no boundaries, the consequences of betrayal linger long after the masks have been removed.
An unmissable opera experience with a top cast and the Summer Opera orchestra and choir under the musical direction of Enrico Delamboye and Lochlan Brown.
